Children's Shoes

why does my 3year boy wear his shoes right-left wrong always?

Is there any explanation scientifically? Do your children do the same? I'm so curious about this, because when the shoes are apart, he sometimes happens to wear them right. But if they are set tidy, he puts his foot in wrong one like 100% always.

  1. its because he is 3 my boy does the same ~ i have to remind him every time (luckily he has an image on one side of shoe to help) it just takes practice...left and right are a suprisingly abstract concept..so imagine how a 3 yr old sees it
  2. It's nothing to worry about. Your son is young and probably hasn't really learned the difference between left and right yet. Just keep correcting his shoes and explaining the difference to him and when he's older he'll uderstand. Just give him time to learn.
  3. Try it yourself, its actually easier to put them on that way! One point though, girls don't do it as much as boys. Typical male to find the easiest way!! (I have a boy and girl, and worked in aboys only kindergarten, which I how came up with this theory. Not actually scientific, but its what I think)
  4. Don't it just drive you crazy!!! My 7 year old still does this. I've even marked her shoes lol. I think for her she just doesn't pay attain.
  5. he is opposed to convention
  6. My daughter always puts her shoes on the wrong feet too. I'm always correcting her.
  7. My three year old does the same thing! The ironic thing is when he first started putting on his own shoes at like one in a half, they were always on the right feet.
  8. ahhhhhahahaha reminds me of ME when i was young i used to wear it the wrong side kinda dumb
  9. i used to do that all the time when i was a little 3 year old and there is no problem with that if they dont know left from right, they dont know right from wrong.
  10. patience. he just needs a lot of daily help reminding him which one is left and right. maybe you can come up w. a game to play other times of helping him remember this. try asking alot of questions to him during the day or in the car or in the store.. wherever... is the dog on your right or left of the car? things like that. also if your that worried you can have him tested for autism. talk to his doctor.
  11. I have seen a lot of kids do that and I have always been told it is normal. The thing is, it is not by chance because most of the kids that do it, do it every time. Just recently, my chiropractor (who is absolutely THE BEST I have ever been to) mentioned that issues with the spine can cause little kids to do this because it feels right to them. We did not get into further detail because my kids areolder and that is not an issue for me but as a passing statement I found that interesting. I have been learning a lot about spinal care and the nervous system (which is housed by your spine so good chripractic care is not about back pain) so if nothing else it is worth giving it a try.
  12. That's so funny my just turned 4 year old does the same thing, if I tell her to put them on the other foot or I do it myself she gets mad and says her shoes hurt her, I tell it that is probably because she wears them on the wrong foot all the time
  13. most kids this age are independent, and want to do everrything their way, or no way, he might be trying to prove that he can do it himself, or, everytime you remind him its wrong, he does it out of spite, to be right
