I am a busy working mother with a 9yr boy + 2 yr infant. I am very tired every day.? I have no domestic help and my husband comes home late. Sice I too come home late, I am saddled with house work + child handling. My husband also tries to help his best. Still both my children demand my attention constantly sapping my energy as I have other chores to look after as well. Of late I am thinking of hiring a full time maid instead of quitting my job since the latter is not possible. I feel this way I can devote good quality time with my family. I actually want to spend more time with my son who is now 9 yrs old. He feels that I am not spending much time with him after the birth of his younger sister. His baby sister constantly hangs on me on the contrary and I neither cannot discourage her after a long time outside the house since I am working. So, working mother who are in my shoes please render your valuable advise.
Why is it that stores will have dress clothes for all ages but toddlers boys? I have a three-year-old boys, and I hit every store in town trying to find dress clothes for church. Every store I hit had dress clothes and shoes for infant girls and boys, toddler girls, older boys and girls, and adults of both genders. Eventually, I found one dress outfit, but then I wasn't able to find dress shoes. What gives? Do they think toddler boys don't need clothes? It's highly likely they need them more than any other age group. Anyone else noticed this?

Baby sock help? I'm looking to buy sock for an 11 month old baby boy. He is beginning to stand and walk along things, since we have wood floors I would like his socks to have some sort of grip on the bottoms of them. Also his feet get really cold so the thicker the socks, the better. I can't seem to find any that fit that description. He has really little feet (he wears a size 2 in infant shoes). Any help, anyone know of good socks that will stay on his feet?
My friend is raising an abusive grandchild. Advice? My friend is in her mid 40's. Her son, who was the father of an infant boy, committed suicide a few years ago. The mother of the infant was on drugs and homeless. My friend sued for custody and won. She is now raising a 4 year old grandson. Although her actions were heroic in taking him from a homeless shelter, she is raising him in a spirit of pity. He is a mean child. He has beat me in the shins with a ball bat, he has thrown his shoes at my head, he has smacked my face. You can only imagine the abuse SHE endures. He calls us both retards. He said when he grows up he's going to "beat the hell out of us." Her main form of discipline includes constant arguing with the child. They argue back and forth like a married couple would. It's bizarre. I just don't know what to do anymore. I can't visit with my friend w/o being beaten up by this kid, but I don't want to lose a friend. She needs me too. But I don't know how much more of this I can endure. Yes, she is aware of the problem. She knows my feelings are hurt over the situation and she apologizes all of the time, but nothing ever changes. Would you just give up and stop going to see her? I seriously do not know how to handle this situation. She will ask my advice and then get insulted if she doesn't agree with it. This is absolutely frustrating. I hope someone out there can give me some form of advice. (and yes they go to weekly counseling sessions at Family Services)
Online shopping for my kids? Now that I have learned some name brands on clothing/shoes (thank you very much for those that posted), time to move on to the next step. Now I need to know where to shop. I ran into Overstock.com last night and it didn't look to bad. And shoeline.com offers free shipping. Are there any online shoppers out there that can point me in the right direction? I need to buy boy's clothing sizes 8-20 and infants clothes (plus shoes and stuff), reasonable prices. This year I am school shopping online so I figured I better get started. Thanks again!
Three sets of twins what are the odds? I was shopping with my mom the other day and the wierdest thing happend. I was leaving the shoe store with my mom and there was identical twins(boys). Walking down the sidewalk I saw another set of twins identical they were toddlers(girls and very cute). I didn't say anything to my mom but i was thinking this pretty odd. Then when we got to our car we helped a lady because her hands were full and she was dropping stuff everywhere. Well she had twins too! Infants a boy and girl! This was wierd to me. What are the chances of seeing that many sets of twins in ten minutes. We talked about this on the way home my mom suggested it could be a omen or sign of something that is going to happen. Im really curious about it so if anyone knows what it means tell me please. Oh yeah we live in a small populated area it made it even more odd. Twins do run in my family on my moms side my grandpa is a twin. Some other people to it skips a generation from what it seems. I pretty sure im not pregnant!!! the last twins were there it wasnt just the lady telling us i saw them.

My 21 month old is most likely autistic, can I hear from parents or folks who have or know autistic toddler? My beautiful baby boy is 21 months. He was a happy, healthy infant who met all his milestones. As far back as October, he had 12 word vocabulary. Now he says no words, no more mama or dada. He does not respond to his name at all. He stares at wheels on toy cars and just spins them. He takes all our shoes and lines them up. I took him to ped and she ordered hearing tests, came back normal. I had Early Intervention team here and he was evaluated for 2 hours and scored very low - 6 months speech - 6 months fine motor - 8 months - emotional and 11 months for something else. We have neuro appt. and more evals but they think it is autism. I am heartbroken. Husband is ignoring this and says "it will pass and I am creating drama". Can you please tell me about your children and how this progresses and how they are doing. I feel very alone here. Thank you.
Who comes up with these, and why do we still choose to believe these old tales? some of these are funny, but why do we still believe some of them? If a woman's carrying low, it's a boy; if a woman's carrying high, it's a girl. Wearing shoes will help a baby learn to walk sooner. An infant walker will help a baby learn to walk sooner. Cats can steal the air from a baby's mouth. Wait an hour after eating before swimming. Coffee stunts your growth. If you go outside with wet hair, you'll catch a cold. Too much TV is bad for your eyes. Cracking knuckles causes arthritis. Chewing gum takes 7 years to pass through your digestive system. some old tales out there are true, but the ones i have listed are not true, yet we believe them, which is not a problem, i think it's funny in a way, i know they have been tolds for so many years now. If a woman's carrying low, it's a boy; if a woman's carrying high, it's a girl. False. If a woman's carrying high, this may be her first pregnancy or her body's in good shape. Stomach muscles have a tendency to become more elastic with each pregnancy, so a belly that's seen more than one pregnancy may hang a little low. Cats can steal the air from a baby's mouth. False. This tale goes back hundreds of years to a time when cats were associated with witchcraft and evil spirits. Cat-lovers, rest easy - it's anatomically impossible for a cat or other animal to suffocate a baby by sealing the baby's mouth with its own. Even so, cats and other pets should be supervised around small children and introduced to a baby gradually. You should also keep cats (just as you should keep other items, like blankets and plush toys) out of your baby's crib or bassinet. Too much TV is bad for your eyes. False. Watching television won't hurt your eyes (no matter how close to the TV you sit), although too much TV can be a bad idea for kids. Research shows that children who consistently spend more than 10 hours a week watching TV are more likely to be overweight, aggressive, and slower to learn in school. Cracking knuckles causes arthritis. False. However, habitual knuckle cracking tends to cause hand swelling, decreased grip strength, and can result in functional hand impairment. If you swallow gum, it's true that your body can't digest it. But the gum doesn't sit in your stomach. It progresses relatively intact through your digestive system and is excreted in your stool. some of those are interesting, haven't heard some of those. thank you for the additional sayings! :)
